, January 29th 2008
Driving business to your site takes time, knowledge, planning and effort. If you are looking to maintain a competitive business, then you need to build the traffic to your site by developing an effective Internet marketing strategy.
With millions of web sites fighting for surfers, how do you get the results you are looking for?

When people are asked if they are marketing on the Internet, most of them said that they already have a web site. However, having a web site and marketing on the Internet are two very different things. So it would be a good idea to clarify this aspect as soon as possible.
Internet marketing is taking care about all the steps you need to reach your target market online, attract surfers to your web site, encourage them to buy or recommend your products and make them want to come back over and over again.
Having a web site is a great thing, but it is useless if nobody knows about it.
Tom Peters' said: "To meet the demands of the fast changing competitive scene, we must simply learn to love change as much as we hated it in the past."
So, what should I do if I want to improve my web site ?
1. define your online goals
2. define your target market needs, wants and expectations
3. develop the marketing strategy that is suitable for your product or service
Everything about Internet marketing is around these three things: objectives, target markets and products or services. It is very important to define these things and discuss them with your web developer team. It's you who have to focus on these things, not your web developer's.
If you don't insist on these objectives and discuss them with your team, it is impossible for them to build a site to satisfy your objectives!
This is the first article from a series of five in which we will learn together: how to improve your web site, how you can promote it, how to keep surfers on your site and make them to come back.
